Lists are great and all but the reality of the situation is: I have an 80L backpack (I had to get a new backpack as my previous large backpack at 50L was too small) and a 35L daypack and all the “Simplified Life” stuff needs to fit into these two bags. Not to mention I have to carry both of them! But I managed to stuff everything into my luggage.

I did admittedly need to remove some items that were probably not necessary – in a previous post I stated that “you don’t need to pack 12 bars of soap and 3 tubes of toothpaste.” I had 30 mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner. My justification was that they are just small bottles and I can dispose of them as I go. Meanwhile, the unnecessary items took up prime real estate in my daypack. I know I will end up throwing out more items once I start walking the 850kms with the monster on my back but for now, it’s all in there and I’m not repacking for the forth time. Terminator I will become.
